Question by Help me Please: Military Moms Please Help?
ok I know this isn’t the exact area to ask this, but I know you guys always give great advice and I really need another moms advice right now. My husband is thinking of joining the military. He is on the delayed enlistment program for the Coast Guard, but he would only be going in as an E4. He can still back out of this. After he signed up for the D.E.P., we realized he could go in as an Officer with the other branches of the military. He had a DUI when he was 18 and the Coast Guard is picky. So now we are considering Navy, etc… We originally picked the Coast Guard b/c we didn’t think he would be away from home as much and it wouldn’t be as dangerous. However, now we are finding out he will prob. be away just as much as the Navy. We are also scared that we wouldn’t be able to make it on an E4 salary. I can get a job, but with employment rates down its scary. I am so confused and torn. Right now we are basically paycheck to paycheck since construction work has slowed down so much and he has no retirement, benefits, etc… I would love for him to find a stable job w/ benefits where his hard work will pay off and I might possibly be able to stay home and us have more kids oneday. I also love the idea w/ the Navy etc… being able to travel. However, we have an 8 month old baby and he is such a good daddy. Thinking of him being away from her for 6+ months is so hard and I know I will miss him too. I’m worried about raising kids with a dad that travels that much. Will he have any real part of their life? Coaching baseball, going to the zoo, etc…Does anyone out there have experience in making this decision or have any advice you could give me to help us make it.Any examples of what life might be like are welcome. We have been praying about it, but still can’t figure out what God wants us to do. We honestly just don’t know what to do or what is right. He is set to leave soon for bootcamp, so if he’s going to change his mind now is the time. Please help me!!!
which branches have the shortest deployments?

I’m in the same boat as you! My husband is joining the army in the summer but he’s doing airforce. We have a 2 1/2 year old daughter and a 6 month old son. I’m scared about him not being there if he has to go away, but it’s a secure job and it’s got great benefits and life insurance. He works in construction currently but it’s not looking too promising. I’d say go for the job in the army that he’ll be the most safest in and make the most of the time you have when he is at home. I’m nervous about it soo much too. you can email me if you want at jessiboo_17@hotmail.com . It’d be nice talking to someone going through the same thing
Chin up and it will all work out.

Question by Anthony E.M.: No offense to Orlando, but who is the better coach?
I like both the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Orlando Magic and do not care who wins the series as long as it is exciting and whomever comes out on top to rightfully represent the East in victory in the NBA Finals if the unfortunate happens if L.A. beats Denver. However, if Denver wins it will be a great Finals and again I like all the teams and wouldn’t not care who wins as long as its exciting.
I like King James he is a beast and DH12 is a man-child. Hedo is my favorite Magic player, so versatile and I like Shard’ and the way Pietrus plays too as well as Alston and a couple of Cavaliers players.
However, my question is what Van Gundy brother is the better coach. As, a Knicks fan I say Jeff Van Gundy is without a question. He to me is one of the best defensive coaches of this generation. Both of them were taught by the great icon in Pat Riley, but Jeff Van Gundy had more success in my book.
I mean Stan has had a successful coaching career in Miami and Orlando, but Jeff Van Gundy is the only coach in NBA history to lead an 8th seeded NBA franchise all the way to the NBA Finals and that was us the New York Knicks. Jeff also has more wins as a coach and I do not think he has decided of hanging it up being the man on the sidelines.
Also, he is a tougher coach in my book in getting what he wants from his player than Stan. I mean Jeff had heart and showed his teams this. Especially, at the pinnacle of the Knicks-Heat and their heated bawl when the game took a turn for the worst in that fight and to come to his teams defense went right at Alonzo Mourning. Despite, the size differential and the fact Zo could have squashed him Jeff hung on to that leg for dear life.
NBA Historian I fully agree he should reward DH12, the most dominant player in the NBA right now with more touches because he is constantly battling down there for position. However, you got to agree in principle that DH12′s offensive abilities are pretty limited at times. I mean he does not possess the same array of low post moves that Shaq did at his most dominant.

I agree with your facts, those all correct to me but i will say that Pat Riley is better than both of them
Jeff Van Gundy is a better defensive coach and in Miami the defense was carried by Zo who was one of the best defensive centers ever.Your Knicks were lead by Stan but they couldn’t beat the twin towers’ duo Robinson and Duncan
So i agree with you 100%

Look around on-line. I’ve used Stacy at www.footstepsforward.com. At $ 30 a session, or $ 100 for a month (4 sessions), she’s the cheapest I’ve seen. But cost isn’t everything; she’s also been very good. But other people may also know of people who are cheaper…..

Question by thebodyelectric!: i love my boyfriend but wants to come coach at my school?
I run track for my college in the midwest. My boyfriend wants to coach college track. He lives in Colorado though. He’s applied to some schools and today he told me an assistant coaching position opened up at my school for my track team. As much as I love my boyfriend, I feel like it’d be unethical for him to be my coach. He says he’s gonna apply for it. What do you think? Idk how to tell him that coming here to coach would be a bad idea. Comments? Suggestions?
And it’d be weird because my teammates have seen pics of him and I together so it’s like if he started coaching for my team I’m sure some ppl would be like “hey isn’t that her boyfriend.” :/
No he’s not my manager. He’d be my coach and that relationship is different than the manager/employee relationship. The relationship btwn na athlete and their coach is a close one because you have to trust each other. But there is always that line as to not get too close.

It can work if you can separate boyfriend/girlfriend time from the coaching area where you need to look at each other in a professional way.
